Leisure Parks
Take some time out of a busy day shopping or visiting the historic landmarks to take in the subtle beauty of Torstow’s garden paradises.
Torstow’s leisure parks contribute to it being one of the greenest large cities in the UK, with many of them wrought-iron masterpieces of Victorian arboreal invention.
Heberston Park
Riverside, TO7 5AA
Heberston Park’s original patron, Adam, Lord Heberston, willed the park and many of his other properties to the city of Torstow upon his death, on the condition that the park be maintained for the people of Torstow to enjoy in perpetuity.
Torstow City Council manages Heberston Park, a large green space featuring a curated flower garden, an exotic greenhouse, a small bird lake and several large open fields, with Lord Heberston’s wishes in mind, keeping this park open, clean and ready for enjoyment seven days a week, year-round.
Tavesmill Park
Riverside, TO7 5AC
Tavesmill Park features a skate park, a wooded walk and a playing field to bring joy to visitors of all ages!
There are several community fitness classes held at Tavesmill, along with regular meditation workshops lead by Torstow Buddhist centre.
Come and enjoy the nicest spot in Riverside.
Castle Park
Victoria Heath, TO4 1CA
Castle Park, is centered on the ruins of Torstow Castle, a Norman castle, built on the site of a former Roman walled settlement, that was reconstructed and refitted repeatedly in the 15th, 17th and early 19th centuries before succumbing to neglect and bombing during the Blitz.
Today, the Castle’s remains have been lovingly excavated and, where possible, restored, with the rich history of the site detailed on a series of plinths and statues, with audio-tour availability.
Castle Park is maintained by Torstow City Council for all to enjoy and the city takes pride in the rich history, available here to sit and bask in.
Adley Vineyard
Fothill, TO9 7FH
Adley Vineyard was founded in 1798. The Adleys hold a proud history of trading wines and fortified wines across the world and their Spanish vineyards are renowned.
In 2015, Adley Vineyard was acquired by a group of investors and rebranded to match its modern environment. Since then, the Torstow location has been transformed into a specialised vineyard serving the global brand alongside the long-established Spanish locations.
Adley Vineyard is open to the public for guided tours and tastings, and many unique and rare bottles can be found in its ancient wine cellars.
